NO COST CLASSES AND ACTIVITIES | SUMMER 2025

  • SAIL Class: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the Ferndale Community Center, 100 Berding Street Taught by Gaylene Dudal and Debbie McCanless. Stay Active and Independent for Life (SAIL) is an evidence-based strength, balance and fitness program for adults. Performing exercises that improve strength, balance and fitness are the single most important activity that adults can do to stay active and reduce their chances of falling. The entire curriculum of activities in the SAIL Program can help improve strength and balance, if done regularly.
  • Tai Chi: Monday 4-5 p.m. (experienced) and Tuesday 11-noon (inexperienced) at the Ferndale Community Center, 100 Berding Street Taught by Mike Goldsby. Tai chi is a gentle, low-impact form of exercise that focuses on deliberate, flowing movements and deep, slow breaths, often referred to as “meditation in motion”. It aims to balance the body’s qi (vital energy), offering benefits for both mental and physical health.
  • Line Dancing: Tuesday (advanced) and Thursday (beginners) 6-7 p.m. at the Ferndale Community Center, 100 Berding St. Taught by Nancy Gleason. Line dancing is a social dance where people dance in lines or rows, performing a choreographed sequence of steps in unison, without needing a partner. It’s a popular activity, particularly in country and western settings, known for its simple, repeatable moves and inclusive nature.
  • Yoga: Tuesday 9-10 a.m. and Thursday 11-noon, at the Ferndale Community Center, 100 Berding St. Taught by Chuck Dwelley. Yoga is a practice that connects the body, breath, and mind, using physical postures, breathing exercises, and meditation to improve overall health and well-being.
  • Scrabble: Friday 10:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. at Buttercup Coffee A friendly game among friends, come join us!
  • Cribbage: Tuesday 10-noon at Our Saviours Lutheran Church, 425 Shaw Street A friendly game among friends, come join us!
  • Mah Jong: Tuesday 1-3 p.m. at . at the Ferndale Community Center, 100 Berding St. A friendly game among friends, come join us!
